Licenses & Content Policy

How content licensing works on FortForge and responsibilities related to UEFN content

This Policy explains how content licensing works on FortForge, and outlines responsibilities related to the use of Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) content and Epic Games intellectual property.

By uploading or downloading content on FortForge, you agree to this Policy in addition to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. User Content Ownership

All content uploaded to FortForge ("User Content") remains the property of its original creator. Creators control how their resources may be used by others by applying a license to their content.

If no license is specified, the content is treated as All Rights Reserved by default, meaning others may not use, modify, or redistribute it without explicit permission from the creator.

2. Common Licenses on FortForge

FortForge allows creators to choose from several license types when sharing their work. Below are the most commonly used licenses:

MIT License

A permissive open-source license allowing reuse, modification, and commercial use as long as the original license and copyright notice are included.

Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY)

Allows others to share, remix, and adapt the work for any purpose — including commercial use — provided the creator is credited.

Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA)

Allows remixing and adaptation, but requires derivative works to be shared under the same license and include attribution.

All Rights Reserved

The creator retains full ownership and exclusive rights. Use, modification, or redistribution requires the creator's permission.

⚠️ Always check the license attached to a resource before using it. When in doubt, contact the creator directly for clarification or permission.

3. FortForge Platform License

By uploading content, you grant FortForge a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

  • Host, store, and display your content on the Platform,
  • Distribute it to other users as part of normal site functionality, and
  • Promote FortForge using screenshots or previews of your content (e.g., in listings or showcases).

This license does not transfer ownership of your content to FortForge, and you retain all rights to your work. You may remove your content at any time, though cached or distributed copies may persist temporarily.

4. Epic Games and UEFN Compliance

FortForge is an independent, community-driven platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Epic Games, Inc.

All content shared on FortForge must comply with Epic Games' Terms of Service and UEFN Content Guidelines.

You may not upload content that:

  • Infringes on Epic Games' intellectual property or trademarks,
  • Violates Epic's community standards or content policies,
  • Contains copyrighted material you do not have permission to use, or
  • Misrepresents itself as official Epic Games content.

Fortnite®, UEFN™, and related trademarks are the property of Epic Games, Inc. All rights reserved.

5. Third-Party Assets

If your uploaded content includes third-party assets (e.g., textures, models, sounds, or code), you must ensure you have the legal right to use and share those assets under the license you've chosen.

You are responsible for:

  • Verifying that third-party assets are properly licensed for your intended use,
  • Providing proper attribution where required, and
  • Ensuring compliance with the original asset's license terms.

FortForge is not responsible for verifying the licensing status of third-party assets included in user uploads.

6. DMCA and Copyright Enforcement

FortForge respects intellectual property rights and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

If you believe content on FortForge infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice to:

Email: dmca@fortforge.io

Your notice must include:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work,
  • Identification of the infringing material and its location on FortForge,
  • Your contact information,
  • A statement of good faith belief that the use is unauthorized, and
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate.

We will investigate all valid DMCA claims and remove infringing content where appropriate. Repeat offenders may have their accounts suspended or terminated.

7. License Violations

If you believe a user has violated the license terms of your content (e.g., used it without attribution or beyond the scope of the license), please contact us at:

Email: support@fortforge.io

We encourage users to resolve licensing disputes directly when possible, but FortForge will investigate reports of misuse and take appropriate action, including content removal or account suspension.
